The
Role of the Conference Steering Committee Member
|
|
This
site is designed to provide you with information and resources
to assist you with your roles and responsibilities as a member
of an AICPA Conference Steering Committee. Although the AICPA
holds approximately 40 conferences per year, the role of the Conference
Steering Committee Member is consistent from Conference to Conference.
The
Conference Chairperson
The
Conference Chairperson is a member of the Conference Steering
Committee. In addition to the responsibilities given to all steering
committee members, the Chair's additional responsibilities are
as follows:
- Review and
assist in the selection of potential steering committee members
- Oversee the
conference planning process and preside at steering committee
meetings
- Respond to
comments or concerns of conference participants as required
- Key point
of contact with the AICPA Project Manager
The
Steering Committee
The Steering
Committee (including the Conference Chair) is responsible for
the following:
- Attend and
participate in steering committee meetings (including follow-up
conference calls) to develop the program objective, format,
content and session descriptions
- Help to identify
potential speakers and make the initial speaker contact where
appropriate
- Assist speakers,
as required, in the development of their presentations by providing
information regarding the interests and needs of the conference
audience with respect to the subject matter
- Review speaker
outlines if necessary
- Contact speakers
prior to the Handout Materials deadline if necessary
- Review session
content
- Make every
attempt to attend the conference and assist the AICPA staff:
- introduce
speakers and providing five-minute warnings
- collect
question cards
- make
announcements as necessary
- provide
feedback on conference sessions
- Interact
with conference participants during lunches and breaks to get
their feedback and suggestions for future conferences and answer
any of their questions
- Alert AICPA
staff to potential problems that may arise during the conference

GRATIS REGISTRATION
We appreciate the
time you have dedicated to the production of an AICPA Conference. In
appreciation of your hard work, we are pleased to provide all Committee
Members with a gratis registration to the Conference. Please note that
committee members cover their travel expenses.

PRINTING
Once you have Acrobat
Reader installed to your computer and find the PDF file you would like
to view and/or print, left clicking on a PDF file (or just clicking
on a Mac file) will launch Acrobat Reader and open the file. Since PDF
files are a visual representation of print instructions, printing from
Acrobat Reader, rather than from web pages, will be faster and cleaner.
